Description

CPR AED Level BLS Recertification course provides the skills needed to work in teams and respond to cardiovascular emergencies. It has replaced the previous CPR AED Level HCP course. Participants gain hands-on experience with the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and learn the additional skills needed in the workplace for healthcare and BLS providers.  WSIB approved.

APRIL 2021 UPDATE: In keeping with the safety protocols within Ontario, First Aid CPR is classified as an ESSENTIAL SERVICE and we continue to provide courses under the required Provincial Regulations. 

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, WSIB has granted First Aid Providers in Ontario to provide a temporary certification option through blended and online training. Furthermore, WSIB has granted an extension to any previously existing certification that would have expired after March 1st, 2020. This extension ends on December 31st, 2021.* PLEASE NOTE that As of April 1st, 2021 ANY EXPIRED RED CROSS CERTIFICATE WILL REQUIRE A NEW CERTIFICATION.  

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Traditionally we have provided both on-site training and public courses. Due to COVID-19, we are unable to provide public courses at this time. Once we are able to resume our public courses, you will be notified with flexible scheduling options. In the meantime, we provide onsite and group training. Our online and Blended Learning courses are always available. 

 

This CPR AED Level BLS Recertification course replaces the original Red Cross CPR/HCP course. Those who have had a Red Cross CPR AED Level HCP certificate must now certify annually under the new CPR Level BLS standard.
Participants gain hands-on experience with the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and learn the additional skills needed in the workplace for healthcare professionals.  Basic life support (BLS) is an important step in the survival of a person who suffers a cardiac arrest incident. CPR with AED Level BLS education helps individuals gain confidence in performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills and provides them with the important steps to:
  • Perform a rapid assessment
  • Initiate the emergency response system
  • Perform BLS skills
  • Perform rapid defibrillation
This CPR AED Level BLS Recertification course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid and resuscitation guidelines.  It is ideal for nurses, pharmacists, personal support workers, paramedics, firefighters, first responders, or anyone who works in a medical based environment.

COURSE COMPLETION

  • 100% attendance for this 2 to 4-hour recertification course and full participation is mandatory for each participant
  • Participants must be able to comprehend and successfully demonstrate all required skills, including critical steps
  • Participants must adhere to the Red Cross Fundamental Principles while in the course
