CPR AED Level A

APRIL 2021 UPDATE: In keeping with the safety protocols within Ontario, First Aid CPR is classified as an ESSENTIAL SERVICE and we continue to provide courses under the required Provincial Regulations.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, WSIB has granted First Aid Providers in Ontario to issue a temporary certification option through online training for Emergency First Aid and Standard First Aid. Also, WSIB has granted an extension to any previously existing certification that would have expired after March 1st, 2020. This extension ends on December 31st, 2021. * PLEASE NOTE that as of April 1st, 2021 ANY EXPIRED RED CROSS CERTIFICATE WILL REQUIRE A NEW CERTIFICATION.  This temporary certification option is valid for Emergency and Standard First Aid and will expire December 31st, 2021 if the in-class portion of the training is not completed.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Baxter Safety has traditionally provided public courses, on-site corporate/group training, and online training. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided not to host public courses at this time. Once we feel we can resume public courses, updates will be posted and flexible scheduling options provided. In the meantime, group and corporate training remain available. We continue to offer online and blended learning courses.

Upon completion of an online course participants must attend an in-class session.  If the in-class portion of the training remains incomplete, then the temporary certificate expires. Participants can complete their in-class training with ANY Red Cross Training Provider (additional in-class course fees vary depending on the Provider selected). Once participants begin their online training, the course fees are non-refundable. 

The Red Cross CPR AED Level A course provides the skills needed to perform CPR with an AED on adults. Participants gain hands-on experience with the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). This CPR AED Level A course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid resuscitation guidelines.

This course is ideal for those who need training for the workplace or personal interests. This course may be a minimum requirement for workplace standards (such as construction workers, supervisors, personal support workers, volunteers, and students).

• Responding to Emergencies
• Check, Call, Care
• Recovery position
• Choking – adults only
• Assisting with medications
• Angina and heart attack
• Stroke
• CPR and AED– adults only
• Deadly bleeding and the use of a tourniquet
• Includes any other content required by specific legislation

COURSE COMPLETION

• Participants must be able to comprehend and successfully demonstrate all required skills
• 100% attendance for this 4-hour course and individual participation is mandatory for all participants
• Participants must achieve a minimum of 75% on a written, closed book knowledge evaluation
• Participants must practice and adhere to Red Cross Fundamental Principles while in the course
